Ask and you will receive

What did Jesus mean when he spoke the following words:

Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Matthew 17:20

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
Matthew 7:7

In order to use Jesus’s statements to manifest things in our life we need to  focus on some important clues in the words that Jesus uses:

The analogy of the mustard seed is useful as it tells us that to create anything we must plant a seed in our unconscious mind. The seed contains the essence of what we are going to create. It needs to be planted in fertile soil and at the right time with a clear vision of what the seed will become. When we plant a  seed we already know with certainty that given the right weather conditions the seed will grow into a beautiful plant and flower. This knowing with certainty is what ‘faith’ is like and a ‘fertile soil’ is a state of total belief that something will happen. When we have faith and total belief that something will definitely happen, it will happen.

Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
The Old Testament, Job 22:28

A good example of this process is what is commonly called the ‘placebo’ effect in medicine. When we believe that we have taken a medicine that will cure us we will recover from our illness – even if the medicine turns out to be simply sugar or some other inert substance.

The other word Jesus uses we need to understand is the word ‘ask’.  We must ask in a certain way. I describe this in some detail in my book ‘The tree of becoming’. Most important of all is that you need to visualize what you are asking for as if it already exists.

Think, speak, and write about what you have created in the present tense.

Bring what you are creating to life and imagine how you feel. Get in touch with your emotions and feelings regarding what you are creating. Feel these feelings as intensely as you can.

Feel an inner sense of gratitude to the Holy Spirit for what has been created.

Have faith that your vision will come into being. Allow the universe to do it for you. The universe has an infinite reservoir of intelligence and creativity. Be gentle and light. Strenuous effort to maintain your vision defeats the purpose. This is a joyous process full of love and happiness towards yourself and others.

Be grateful for what you already have and give thanks for what you are about to receive.

Offer up your vision. Ask (or pray) to be blessed in order to carry out your higher purpose in life.

The most common reason we fail to create what we desire is our lack of belief or ‘faith’.  We can learn to develop this faith as a result of experience. If we start to create small things in our life we will become increasingly confident of our power to manifest our desires. You can also learn to use a process to let go of the doubts and fears that sabotage the creative process.  You can discover how to do this in my book ‘The tree of becoming’ under the section ‘Let go of resistance to your vision’.
