The first Essene Mirror

Ancient spiritual texts refer to seven mirrors that reflect back to us our inner selves.

The FIRST MIRROR reflects to us who we are, and what energy we are sending out into the world in the present moment. It is to do with our attitude towards other people and the world in the present moment.

If we are angry, bitter and unloving to others, they in turn will often react in the same way towards us. This is the first principle of karma, and is equivalent to Newton’s First Law of motion that every action has an equal and opposite  reaction. Buddha taught that if we accumulate bad  karma we will have to compensate for this either in this life or in a future incarnation.

The Old Testament of the Bible describes this in  Proverbs 22:8
Whoever sows injustice will reap calamity, and the rod of his fury will fail.

However Jesus teaches us that we may avoid the effects of karma through ‘metanoia’ which has been mis-translated in the New Testament as repentance. The correct meaning of metanoia is a tranformation of understanding at a very deep/spiritual level, and involves a radical change in attitude and behaviour. This is why Jesus advised those he healed to ‘go and sin no more’.

And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked. John 5:9
Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. John 5:14

What Jesus is telling us is that we must learn from our experience and become more loving and compassionate human beings. If we continue to act in the same way and make the same mistakes,  our lives will become worse – until we learn the lessons we are meant to learn.
